Window reveal and performance by pianist Todor Kobakov opens pop-up shop
TORONTO (November 30, 2009) – The Burroughes Holiday Pop-Up Shop, a temporary retail space spotlighting the best in Toronto design, launches this Thursday, December 3 with an exclusive piano performance by Todor Kobakov. Kobakov and his solo album Pop Music have been celebrated by music critics and audiences and he’s composed string arrangements for Stars, Emily Haines and Sara Slean.
Industrial designer David Chang’s holiday windows will also be revealed on opening night. Chang divides his time between Holt Renfrew and Tiffany's, working with their visual teams to create eye-catching installations. For the Burroughes Pop-Up Shop windows, he’s reinterpreting traditional holiday garlands in a modern, industrial way that highlights the building’s history and the work of the shop’s designers.
Those designers include established and emerging names in fashion, housewares, gifts, beauty and grooming. Shop women’s clothing from Carrie Hayes, Mercy and Poa Studio plus jewelry and accessories by SOOS, le Petit Beret, Susana Erazo and Kvell & Co. For men, there are finds from Philip Sparks, Cuffwear and Bread & Butter skincare. Pick up great gifts from DaLish Cosmetics, Katie Muth, MADE, Petals and reclaim by: emma pawluk. And don’t miss devouring Delight Chocolates’ holiday treats.
The Burroughes Holiday Pop-Up Shop continues until Sunday, December 6.
